Day 2
Today we woke up around 9am and ate Bagels. The weather was perfect. It was in the 70's most of the day and it was breezy. We got dressed and headed over to prospect mountain, which was about a half hour from where we are staying on Loon Lake. The hike itself was not that bad. It was 3 miles round trip, but it was pretty steep for a few stretches of the trail. For the most part, we did very well on the trails. The only person who felt it was Deana. She pushed hard for being a girl and all. It was pretty cool getting to the top and seeing lake George from such a high distance. Prospect mountain had several tidbits of info at the top of the summit. One that I read talked about how the mountain was used in the 19th century for a cable car system for tourists, but eventually failed to attract enough business and went bankrupt. During WW1 the cables, and rails were scrapped for the use of the US military. Not much remains today from the original. But there was remains of the cable system wheel, or Cog, at the top of the Summit. After we hiked the mountain we ended up eating in town at an Italian eatery. After we ate we ended up back at the house where we did some fishing, Kayaking, and tubing, all topped off with a fire pit at the end. The fire pit was a great time because the temp. dropped into the early 60's. The day was simply amazing. Now we are going to watch a movie and get some well needed rest. Tomorrow we will be heading back out to Lake George to do some stuff. We plan on tubing and watching The Dark Knight rises at the drive in movie theater.
